Front loader door lock faults and what they look like
A front loader can't fill or spin until the door lock confirms the door is closed and secured. Depending on the design, a small heater or solenoid moves a locking pin into place, and a switch inside signals the control board that it's safe to start. Faults show up as a machine that clicks but never starts, a door that won't release at the end of the cycle, a door error code, or a lock that engages and then drops out mid wash.

Replacing a front loader door lock
Unplug the washing machine and make sure the drum is empty and drained. If the door is stuck shut, it may need to be released through the lock from behind the front panel, or with the emergency release on models that have one. Remove the outer door seal clamp, fold the seal in, undo the screws holding the lock to the frame and move the 4 pin plug across to the new lock.
