Changing the element

Unplug the washer and turn off the taps. Depending on the model, the element is reached through a panel at the front or the back of the cabinet. Photograph the terminals and the temperature sensor position, loosen the centre nut and ease the old element out. Slide the new one in so it locates in its bracket inside the tub, tighten the nut evenly and run a warm wash to test.
