When to replace the complete lamp

Halogen lighting in an appliance lights up the area you're looking at, whether that's the inside of an oven or the cooktop below a rangehood. When the light stops working, the cause is often a blown globe, but heat and grease also wear out the holder, terminals and wiring, which go brittle or discoloured. A lamp that flickers, works only when tapped, or blows globes again soon after a change points to a fault in the holder or connections. That's when replacing the complete lamp makes sense. Check the light switch first.

Part details

Genuine BSH part 12027215

Complete halogen lamp

Wattage, voltage and appliance not recorded

Match the number on your old lamp or parts list

Replacing the halogen lamp safely

Switch the appliance off at the wall or isolate it at the switchboard, and let the lamp cool before touching it, as halogen globes run extremely hot. Don't handle a new halogen globe with bare fingers, because skin oil shortens its life. Note how the old lamp is clipped or screwed in and how its wires connect. Fit the new lamp the same way, restore power and test the light.

Questions about this part

Is the globe included?

BSH describes 12027215 as a complete halogen lamp, which normally means more than a bare globe.
