Bosch dishwasher not heating or not washing? Signs of a failed heat pump
The heat pump pushes water up to the spray arms and heats it on the way through, so it handles two of the most important jobs in the machine. When the heating side fails, dishes come out cold and wet, detergent tablets do not dissolve properly and the cycle may stop with a heating error code. When the pump side fails you may hear humming or grinding, see the spray arms barely turning, or find food left on everything. Leaks under the machine and a tripped safety switch can also point to this part.

Replacing the heat pump
Switch the dishwasher off at the wall, unplug it and turn off the water tap. The machine usually has to come out of its cavity and be tipped onto its back to reach the pump from underneath, so protect the floor and drain as much water as you can first. Photograph the hose clamps and connectors, then swap the pump across. Run a full hot program and check underneath for leaks. Hard-wired units need a licensed electrician.
