A condenser dryer pulls moisture out of the clothes and collects it as water. Normally that water is pumped into a removable tank, but these dryers can send it out through a drain hose to a laundry tub or standpipe instead. A split, kinked or perished hose drips water onto the floor, while a blocked one can bring up a full tank warning or stop the dryer mid-cycle. Lint building up inside the hose is a common cause, along with hoses squashed flat behind the machine.

Connecting the drain hose
Switch the dryer off at the wall. At the back of the machine, detach the short hose that normally feeds the water tank and connect the outlet hose as shown in your manual's diagram. Run the other end to a laundry tub or standpipe, keep within the height limit in the manual and make sure it can't kink. Run a short drying program and check water comes out the end.

Do I still empty the water tank once this hose is fitted?
Once the drain hose is connected properly, the condensed water goes down the drain instead of into the tank, so the tank should stay empty. Leave the tank in its slot unless your manual says otherwise.
