Why replace broken upper rack tines

Flip tines are the rows of prongs that hold cups, glasses and small bowls upright in the upper rack. They fold flat when you need room for larger items and clip back up when you don't. The pivots and locking clips are thin plastic, so they can crack after years of hot washes and being flicked up and down. Fitting the flip tines

Pull the upper rack out and look at how the old tine row attaches to the basket wires. Usually it unclips at the pivot points, so ease each clip free without bending the basket. Clip the new row into the same spot at the front left, then fold it down and up a few times to check it moves freely and locks upright.
