Product details

11550381 is a genuine Blanco spark plug, also called an ignition electrode. It's the ceramic-bodied probe beside a gas burner that sparks when the ignition is activated, lighting the gas. Blanco uses a separate number for its wok burner electrode, so check which burner your old spark plug came from, and confirm the number in your appliance's parts list, before ordering.

Why a Blanco gas burner won't light

Gas burners rely on a strong spark at exactly the right gap. When a spark plug fails, the ignition still clicks, but the spark is weak, intermittent or missing at the burner, so the gas doesn't catch. Common causes are a cracked insulator from a knock or sudden temperature change, a corroded or burnt tip, or a damaged lead. Moisture after a boil-over can cause the same symptoms for a while, so let the cooktop dry out first. If one burner still won't light while the others do, its spark plug is the prime suspect.

Fitting a new spark plug

Shut off the gas at the isolation valve and switch the cooktop's power off at the wall. Remove the trivets, burner caps and heads, then the cooktop surface to reach the electrode clip and lead. Unplug the lead from the spark generator, feed the new lead along the same path and clip the electrode in place. Get a licensed gas fitter to do this work.

Our records describe 11550381 simply as a spark plug, without stating the lead length or whether a lead is attached. Compare it with your old one, or send your model number and the burner position so we can check before you buy.
