The latch holds the door firmly closed against the seal, and on most dishwashers it also houses a switch that tells the control the door is shut before any water or heat is allowed. Fitting the dishwasher door latch

Switch the dishwasher off at the wall and turn off the water tap. The latch sits in the top of the door, and you'll normally need to remove the inner door panel screws to reach it. Photograph the wiring before you unplug it. Fit the new latch, check it catches the strike cleanly by closing the door by hand, then run a short program.
