An exhaust filter is the last line of defence, cleaning the air that leaves the vacuum after it has passed through the bag and motor. Over time it clogs with fine dust. Changing the filter
Switch the vacuum off and unplug it. Open the filter cover, usually at the back of the machine, and lift out the old filter, noting which way it faces. Wipe any dust from the housing, fit the new filter the same way round and close the cover until it clicks. Run the vacuum and check suction has improved.
