Replacing a cracked or loose Belling cooktop knob
Cooker knobs do more than look tidy. On a gas burner the knob is pushed in and turned to release gas and light the burner, so a knob that is split or slipping on its spindle makes the cooker awkward and less safe to use. Heat from the burners also yellows and weakens white plastic over time. If a knob has cracked, will not stay on, or no longer lets you push and turn the control cleanly, replace it before it breaks completely and leaves you working the spindle with pliers.

Fitting the white knob
Check that every burner and the oven are off and the cooktop has cooled. Pull the damaged knob straight off its spindle, then clean any grease from the spindle and the panel around it. Match the shaped hole in the new knob to the spindle and press it on until it sits snugly. Push and turn it gently to make sure the control works as normal before lighting a burner.
