Fitting the knob

Make sure the hob is off and cool. Pull the old knob straight off its spindle, without twisting or levering against the panel. Check the flat on the spindle lines up with the slot in the new knob, then push it firmly home. Turn it through its full range to confirm the markings line up with the off position.
