Heat leaking out around the door is the classic sign of a tired oven seal. 03170190 is the genuine oven door gasket for Lofra cookers and ovens, listed against a long run of models including LEF8EGSS, LEF9EGSS, LCF9EGSS, LPF9EGCSS, P9EGSS, P9EGFSS, D9EGSS, C9EGSS, E9EGFLSS and E8EGFLSS. The same seal is also listed for the BAF9003, BAF9006, BAF9008, WK800 and WK900.
Worn Lofra oven door seal symptoms
The gasket runs around the oven opening and is squeezed by the door when it closes, keeping hot air inside the cavity. Age and heat make it hard, flat and brittle, and it can tear, split at the join or pull away from its fixings. Once it stops sealing you may see steam or smoke escaping at the top of the door, feel heat on the knobs, notice longer cooking and preheat times, or find food browning more on one side. A quick check is to close the door on a strip of paper, as a sound seal grips it firmly.

Fitting a new oven door seal
Only work on an oven that is switched off and cold. Before you pull the old seal out, note where its join sits and how it is held, often by clips that push into holes around the oven front. Clean the frame so the new seal sits evenly, start at the top centre and work around, pressing each fixing home. Close the door to check it seals all the way around.
