Why a Blanco burner goes out when you release the knob

Pressing and holding the knob opens the safety valve by hand so the burner can light. After a few seconds of flame, the thermocouple generates enough millivolts to hold the valve open by itself. A tired thermocouple can't produce that voltage, so the burner dies as soon as you let go or flickers out during cooking. Tips also get burnt, bent or coated in spills. Installing the cooktop thermocouple

Thermocouples are part of the gas safety system, so have a licensed gas fitter install this one. Shut off the gas supply and turn the cooktop off at the power point before the fitter starts.
