Replacing a trivet foot

Wait until the cooktop and trivet have cooled right down, with every burner off. Rest the trivet upside down on a towel so the cast iron doesn't scratch your bench. Work the remains of the old foot out of its mounting hole and wipe the hole clean. Push the new foot in squarely until it seats, then refit the trivet and slide a pan across it to make sure it no longer rocks.
