ILVE has used more than one knob style over the years, and the shaft fitting and markings can differ, so compare this new style knob with the ones on your appliance. Replacing a worn or broken ILVE knob
A control knob turns the shaft of a gas valve, thermostat or switch behind the panel. Knobs crack from heat, the socket that grips the shaft wears loose, and printed markings fade with cleaning. A knob that spins without turning the control, slips off in your hand or no longer shows the settings clearly is due for replacement. On gas appliances a knob that doesn't grip properly can make it hard to turn a burner fully off, so don't put it off.

Fitting the knob
Make sure every control is in the off position and the appliance is cool. Pull the old knob straight off its shaft without twisting it, and check the shaft isn't damaged. Line up the flat on the shaft with the matching shape inside the new knob and push it on firmly. Turn it through its settings to make sure it engages properly.
