Bosch washer not filling, slow to fill or filling when off?

The inlet valve is an electrically operated tap at the back of the washer. When the control board energises one of its two coils, water flows through that outlet to the detergent drawer, letting the machine fill and flush detergent from the right compartment. A failed coil leaves the machine unable to fill and showing a water supply fault, a partly blocked filter screen makes it fill slowly, and a valve stuck open can let water trickle in even with the machine off. A cracked body can also leak at the back.

Swapping the inlet valve

Turn off the tap and unplug the washer before you start. Disconnect the inlet hose and lift off the top panel, which usually gives access to the valve. Photograph the wiring and hose positions, then move them across to the new valve one at a time. Check the filter screen at the hose connection is clean, reconnect the supply and watch for leaks as the machine fills.
