When a fan forced function is selected, the oven fan runs and the circular element heats up around it, so hot air circulates evenly over every shelf. If the element burns out, the fan keeps spinning but the oven stays cold or barely warm, preheating drags on, or the oven trips the safety switch as soon as fan bake is chosen. Look for a break, blistering or a bulge in the sheath. With the power isolated, a multimeter across the terminals will show an open circuit or a short to earth.

Replacing a circular oven element
Switch the oven off at the isolator or circuit breaker and let it cool. Hard-wired ovens should be serviced by a licensed electrician. Remove the fan cover inside the oven, undo the element screws, and draw it forward to reach the terminals, or work from the rear panel on some ovens. Photograph the wiring, transfer it to the new element, and test on fan bake.
