Rangehood not clearing cooking smells?

A ducted rangehood pushes air outside, but a recirculating hood cleans the air and returns it to the room. Fitting the charcoal filter

Turn the rangehood off at the wall or switch. On most hoods the charcoal filter sits behind the grease filters, so take those out first. Twist or unclip the old filter, noting which way it sits, and fit the new one the same way. Refit the grease filters and run the hood on a high setting for a few minutes. Write the date on the filter so you know when it's due again.
